The International Longshoreman’s Association (ILA) began to strike on midnight of Oct 1. Roughly 50,000 ILA longshoremen were walking off the job at East Coast and Gulf Coast ports, after failing to reach an agreement with ports ownership the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) on a new contract.
